The Beli-lena cave situated about 8 km from the Kitulgala town is situated on a tea estate, 2000 ft above sea level.        15 Minute drive to the main location of the famous multiple Oscar award winning film “ The Bridge on The River         Kwai ”
There is a place near Kitulgala  which is  10 km from the holiday home  famed for the role it played in the filming of David Lean’s epic war film, the 1957 Oscar winning movie ‘The Bridge on the River Kwai’. This beautiful location on the picturesque Kelani River at Kitulgala is still a much visited site, especially by film enthusiasts. Clearly marked directional board show the exact spot where the bridge was constructed, destroyed and filmed. Though there is no bridge remaining (the bridge was blown up at the end of the scene) the concrete remains of the bridge and supposedly the remains of some submerged train carriages can still be seen here.
